Donald Trump Enters Telecom Market With Gold-Colored ‘T1 Phone’

The Trump Organization, led by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, announced Trump Mobile, a new wireless service, and the T1 Phone, a $499 gold-colored Android smartphone, on June 16, 2025. The T1 Phone, set for release in August or September 2025, is marketed as “designed and built in the USA,” featuring a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, a 50MP main camera, and a 5,000mAh battery, running Android 15. The service, priced at $47.45/month (nodding to Trump’s 45th and 47th presidencies), offers unlimited talk, text, and data, plus perks like telehealth and roadside assistance, operating as an MVNO on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile networks.

Skepticism surrounds the “Made in USA” claim, as domestic smartphone manufacturing is limited due to high costs and reliance on foreign components. The phone’s specs suggest a rebranded low-end Android device, with unclear manufacturing details and a questionable render on the Trump Mobile website. Critics highlight potential conflicts of interest, as the venture enters a federally regulated telecom sector while Trump holds office. The service is positioned for conservative consumers, but its $47.45 price is higher than competitors like Boost Mobile ($25/month). The Trump Organization licenses its name to T1 Mobile LLC, distancing itself from direct manufacturing or service provision.
