– Funding Details: Destination Ball Hill has secured over £19,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund. This financial support is crucial for the continued development of its services.
– Community Services Offered: The group operates a job club, provides mental health support, and hosts activities for children and families at the 2 Tone Cafe and All Saints St Margaret’s Church.
– Community Impact: The organization emphasized that this funding represents a win for the whole community and a major step forward for its growth. It will enable the expansion of existing weekly activities and introduce new services tailored to local needs.
Rev. Beks Rothnie highlighted the importance of these services, stating, Support is available to the community right on their doorstep when they need it. She mentioned that the hub offers assistance particularly during challenging times, such as the current economic crisis.
– Building Community: Rothnie emphasized that the hub serves as a safe space for individuals facing difficulties. “It gives them a chance to build community, make friends, and avoid isolation. While fantastic support exists, accessing it can sometimes be a hurdle.”
Pauline Black, lead singer of Coventry’s iconic band The Selecter and deputy lieutenant for the West Midlands, remarked, Today is a wonderful example of what we can achieve when people come together with a shared purpose.
As Destination Ball Hill flourishes with its new funding, it stands as a beacon of hope and support for the local community, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and shared goals.
