Plant-based Cookery Classes Bring People Together
Free cooking sessions in Godalming aim to unify the community, promote healthy choices, and boost culinary confidence. The local plant-based cookery school, Joyfull Greens, hosts these monthly classes every Wednesday morning at the Denningberg Centre, as noted by the Waverley Borough Council.
Highlights from Last Month’s Class
Participants recently came together to create a Gambian peanut stew, which was celebrated by the council as a huge success. This initiative offers complimentary cookery classes for residents facing challenges in accessing nutritious food, such as:
– Low-income households
– Single parents
– Carers
– Anyone seeking to enhance their cooking skills
Samantha Hutchison, the council’s assistant director of community services, emphasized that the classes provide a fantastic opportunity for people to come together, share skills, experience different cultural cuisines, and improve both their health and community wellbeing.
The Mission of Joyfull Greens
Frédie Lecerf, founder of Joyfull Greens, shared insights into the program’s mission. The focus is on making healthy and sustainable eating accessible for everyone, regardless of budget or cooking experience. Lecerf stated, We are passionate about bringing health, joy, and connection to the community through cooking and eating together.
Engaging in plant-based cookery classes not only fosters individual growth but also strengthens community bonds. Whether you’re an experienced cook or just starting out, these sessions are designed to inspire and empower all participants.
