Two charities get £300k to support older residents

Two Charities Receive £300,000 to Support Older Residents

In a significant boost for older residents in financial need, two charities in the South East have been awarded nearly £300,000. Independent Age has generously allocated £149,997 to Citizens Advice Swale, based in Kent, and an additional £150,000 to Age UK East Sussex. This funding aims to enhance the financial wellbeing of older individuals and ensure their homes are safe and suitable.

Focus on Vulnerable Communities

The funding primarily targets coastal communities with a high population of older private renters, who are often at greater risk of experiencing financial hardship. According to a spokesperson from Independent Age, this initiative specifically addresses the challenges faced by these vulnerable groups.

Hannah Lison, Head of Grants and Partnerships at Independent Age, emphasized the importance of this funding: This support will enable Citizens Advice Swale and Age UK East Sussex to continue, strengthen, and expand the vital assistance they provide to those who need it most.

This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the unique challenges faced by older residents, particularly in light of rising living costs. By bolstering the capabilities of these charities, the funding seeks to deliver essential services that not only provide immediate relief but also foster long-term financial stability for older adults.
