A blood-soaked tragedy has once again shaken India — 26 innocent lives, including 25 Indian citizens, were brutally gunned down in Pahalgam, a scenic valley in Indian-administered Kashmir. The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), has not only devastated families but also exposed the global threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
As the smoke clears, the message is loud and clear: the world can no longer afford to ignore Pakistan’s role as the epicenter of international terror.
The Pahalgam Attack: A Familiar Pattern of Proxy Violence
Tuesday’s massacre was chillingly familiar. Gunmen opened fire on unarmed tourists, allegedly accusing them of supporting India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The scenes were horrific: terrified families fleeing through mountain trails, bodies of children and women lying lifeless in the valley, and a haunting silence replacing what was once a haven for travelers.
The TRF, a Lashkar-e-Tayyiba-linked group backed by elements in Pakistan, quickly claimed responsibility. Though Pakistan denies involvement, the pattern is undeniable — decades of proxy warfare, sleeper cells, and militant indoctrination have turned Pakistan into a state synonymous with terror.
Terror by Design: Pakistan’s History of Sponsoring Extremism
Pakistan’s duplicity is no secret. While it paints a picture of peace on global forums, the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) has long been accused of sheltering, funding, and training terror outfits like:
- Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) – Behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed over 160 people.
- Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) – Responsible for the 2019 Pulwama attack that killed 40 Indian paramilitary personnel.
- Haqqani Network – Operating in Afghanistan with Taliban support.
- Al-Qaeda-linked factions – Found safe haven in Pakistan’s tribal regions.
The United States, United Nations, and European Union have all sanctioned Pakistan-based terror groups, yet these organizations continue to operate with shocking impunity.
Even Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, was found hiding in Abbottabad, a Pakistani garrison town — mere kilometers from a military academy.
Global Terror Has a Pakistani Address
From the UK’s 7/7 bombings to the Paris attacks and New York’s Times Square plot, many of the terrorists involved have had links—either logistical or ideological—to networks based in or supported by actors within Pakistan.
Pakistan has become the hub of violent extremism that threatens democracies worldwide.
Western intelligence agencies have routinely flagged Pakistan as a breeding ground for radicalization, yet diplomatic loopholes and geopolitical compromises have allowed it to evade meaningful sanctions or consequences.
Modi’s Resolve vs. Global Indifference
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vow to “pursue the attackers to the ends of the Earth” has struck a chord. But while India stands firm, the global response remains muted — tepid condemnations, vague diplomatic language, and no unified action.
India has downgraded diplomatic ties, suspended a critical water treaty, and shut a key border post with Pakistan. In return, Islamabad expelled Indian diplomats and closed airspace — a tit-for-tat that completely ignores the core issue: terrorism.
The real question is: Where is the global outrage?
Time for the World to Act
The United Nations, European Union, G7, and NATO allies must come together to demand accountability from Pakistan:
- Declare Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism unless it dismantles terror networks.
- Impose economic sanctions on known supporters and financiers of jihadist groups.
- Freeze international aid until demonstrable steps are taken to eradicate terrorist safe havens.
- Enforce financial compliance via the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which has already gray-listed Pakistan.
Terrorism is not India’s burden alone. It’s a global disease, and its treatment begins by acknowledging and confronting its source.
A Call to the World: Unite Before It’s Too Late
If Pahalgam isn’t a wake-up call, what is? Innocent blood has been spilled. Families destroyed. Stability shattered. And behind it all is the well-oiled machine of terror networks supported, trained, and protected by Pakistan’s shadowy security apparatus.
The international community must understand this: Peace in South Asia and security across the globe depend on defeating terrorism at its roots. And right now, those roots run deep through Islamabad’s corridors of power.
