A powerful typhoon passing Japan's eastern coast is bringing major disruption and heavy rainfall in its wake.

The police are urging nearly two million people at risk in Tokyo and surrounding areas to leave their homes.

Satellite footage showed Typhoon Dujuan crossing the Pacific Ocean towards Japan.
