US President Donald Trump has said Ukraine and Russia have agreed to an immediate "energy ceasefire".
Moscow is yet to comment on the announcement and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky told US media it was "news to me".
Trump also recently announced a US deal to import Russian diesel, in an attempt to bring the fuel price down ahead of the midterm elections.
The price of diesel in the US has been high since the start of the war with Iran and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The BBC's Joe Inwood examines Trump's announcement and what might mean for the president ahead of the midterm election.
